Wan-Jen Chen was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1982, and is currently studying for a Master of New Media at Taipei National University of the Arts, Taiwan. Chen has won Taipei Art Award, Taipei (2006) and S-An Aesthetics Praise award, Taipei (2007, 2009). In his works Chen addresses issues of being symbolized, flattened or decontextualized in the digital environment, recent solo exhibition includes Unconscious Voyage (Taipei, 2008), You Are An Exception of Mine (Taipei, 2011) and Screw You the Future (Taipei, 2011). His work has also been selected for international exhibitions, including Taiwan Biennial (Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, 2012), Arte da Taiwan – Taiwan Contemporary Art (Museo d’ Arte Contemporanea di Villa Croce, Genoa, 2011), Tokyo Frontline, Exchange-Microclimate (3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo, 2011), Stand-In Techniques – New Taiwanese video Style (Gallery 456, New York, 2010), and Changwon 2010 Asia Art Festival – THE FANTASTIC GARDEN, Korea, 2010).
